Yu Huaying, who was born on Feb. 4, 1987, in Weining County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, is a native of a village in Guizhou Province, according to public information.

In the case, the victim, Liu (a pseudonym), took several children (some of whom were minors) from Guizhou, Guangdong and other places to Yuhuaying under repeated inducement and coercion between August 2013 and June 2014, and carried out forced labor and trafficking activities. Most of these child victims came from poor families or rural areas, and some were even forced to engage in dangerous work, such as mining and drug trafficking.

Ms. Yu was sentenced to death, deprived of her political rights for life and sentenced to confiscation of all her personal property by the court of first instance. The case aroused strong reactions from all walks of life. Many people expressed indignation at Ms. Yu's actions, which they considered to be a serious violation of laws, regulations and social morals.
